Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga designed to allow us to connect more deeply with ourselves in body, mind, and spirit.
Unlike more active yang styles of yoga, like the widely-popular Vinyasa flow that matches breath and movement, Yin is a practice in stillness. In Yin yoga, we aim to relax into each posture where we remain from 3 to 6 minutes in order to target deeper connective tissues like the ligaments and fascia, increase circulation in the joints, improve flexibility, release into the parasympathetic nervous system, and to foster self-acceptance.
Yin offers us the opportunity to really turn our focus inward to better get to know ourselves, trust our intuition, and learn to welcome and find comfort with any body sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise. In this 75-minute class we’ll leave ego at the door and instead show up exactly as we truly are to practice with loving kindness and full acceptance of our unique, wonderful, authentic selves.
